Our story

Built from nothing. On purpose.

Paul Pitchford and Scott Marsh started Your Home Care in July 2020. Right in the middle of COVID. They did not buy a franchise or inherit a business. They built it from nothing because they thought home care in their area could be done better.

The company started in Mansfield and Ashfield, covering a patch they both knew well. The team was small. The ambition was not. From the start, the idea was straightforward: recruit properly, train properly, match carers to clients carefully, and never treat people like numbers on a rota.

In 2022, CQC inspected and rated the company Outstanding overall. Outstanding in Caring, Responsive and Well-led. The goal now is Outstanding in all five.

The Ripley branch opened to bring the same approach to families across the Amber Valley and parts of Derbyshire.

What the inspectors actually found

These are not marketing claims. They come directly from the CQC inspection report and the way the company runs day to day.

Small, consistent teams

An electronic monitoring system calculates the right team size for each person, then assigns the same staff to every visit. Families have been able to go on holiday for the first time in years because they trust the people turning up.

Introductions before care starts

No carer is ever sent to someone they have not met first. Every new member of staff visits with an experienced colleague before working alone. No exceptions.

No uniforms. On purpose.

"Family don't wear uniforms when visiting." Staff carry proper ID and wear PPE during care tasks, but the aim is to feel like a person visiting, not a service arriving. If someone prefers a uniform, that's accommodated.

Family app and call monitoring

Families and authorised relatives can see care records, visit notes and medication records in real time through the app. No guessing whether a visit happened or what was done. YHC does not miss visits. They are on time, within 30 minutes of the planned time, on 99% of all visits.

RESTORE2 pioneer

First home care provider in Nottinghamshire to implement RESTORE2, a clinical tool for spotting early signs of physical deterioration. Staff are trained to catch soft signs and escalate to GPs with structured observations. This has caught issues like high blood pressure before they caused harm.

Beyond care plans

Part of the community, not just in it

Once a month, the team runs a fish and chips lunch club for clients and their families. It started as a simple idea to get people out of the house and talking to each other. It has become one of the things people look forward to most.

The company also runs a programme for young adults with additional needs. One person they supported went through a nail technician qualification and came out the other side with a genuine skill and a lot more confidence. That kind of thing does not show up on a care plan, but it matters.

YHC sponsors the QUFC U8s, because backing local kids' football felt like the right thing to do. And in 2020, the company was shortlisted for two out of three categories at the Mansfield and Ashfield Business Awards, in its first year of trading. Not bad for a company that started during a pandemic.
