Skegness trip 2026: sea air, friendship and smiles

At Your Home Care, we believe care is about much more than supporting people at home. It is also about helping people enjoy life, stay connected, and keep doing the things that make them smile.

That is why we were delighted to take a group of our clients on an all expenses paid day trip to Skegness. With the coach supplied by Redfern Travel, everyone set off ready for a proper seaside day.

Bright and early

The journey itself was full of laughter. We played bingo on the bus, which helped everyone relax, chat, and enjoy themselves before we had even arrived.

Some new clients joined us who had not been on one of our trips before, and it was wonderful to see them welcomed into the group so naturally. Days like this are a lovely reminder that companionship can begin with something as simple as a shared coach seat, a game of bingo, or a laugh over coffee.

A proper seaside day

Once in Skegness, we enjoyed all the seaside favourites: fish and chips, coffees and donuts, ice cream by the sea, and a walk through the theme park and gardens. It was simple, joyful, and exactly the kind of day that makes lasting memories.

There was fresh air, gentle movement, plenty to look at, and lots of conversation. Most importantly, our clients had a wonderful day.

Why it matters

Getting out can change the whole week

For many older and vulnerable people, social isolation can become part of everyday life. Some people may go long periods without seeing friends, joining a group, or having the confidence and support to leave the house for something enjoyable.

Trips like this help with far more than a change of scenery. They bring gentle exercise, fresh air, conversation, confidence, and a feeling of belonging. We have even seen clients become good friends after meeting on days out like this, looking forward to seeing each other again at future events.

The home care assistants who came along volunteered their time. They were not there because they had to be. They were there because they wanted to see their clients have a good day. That says more about our team than anything we could write on a website.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make the trip possible, and to our clients for making it such a happy day. This is what care should feel like: supportive, social, active, and full of moments worth remembering.

Same time next year.
