We held our 2025 awards ceremony in December, bringing together our home care assistants, office team, clients and their families for an afternoon of recognition and celebration.
This is the day we pause. We stop thinking about rotas and care plans and medication rounds, and we take a proper look at the people who make this company what it is.
From Paul's speech
“When I think about the past twelve months, what stands out is not numbers or plans. It is people. It is the care that is given day in, day out. Often quietly. Often without fuss. But always with kindness and respect.
The standard of care this year has been exceptional. Not because it is written down anywhere, but because of how it feels to the people who draw upon our service. Feeling safe. Feeling listened to. Feeling supported in their own homes. That happens because of the people in this room.”
The 2025 winners
Ashfield Carer of the Year – Lauren
Described by colleagues and clients as someone whose bubbly personality lights up every room. Lauren has a remarkable ability to make everyone feel heard, whether it is a client who needs reassurance or a colleague who needs support.
Mansfield Carer of the Year – Helen
Helen has an extraordinary ability to build trusting relationships, especially with clients who feel anxious or unsure. She thinks outside the box, bringing fresh ideas and gently encouraging people to step outside their comfort zones.
Newcomer of the Year – Ronnie
From day one, Ronnie took to care work like a natural. She brings enthusiasm, kindness, and an incredible willingness to help. And her cake-baking skills have become legendary.
Comedian of the Year – Marian
From dressing up as an elf to visit people in hospital, to getting everyone singing, Marian brings joy wherever she goes. Her humour lifts spirits and creates moments that people genuinely remember.
The One Always Smiling – Skye
Skye's gentle nature and constant smile bring warmth and comfort to everyone she meets. Simply being around her makes people feel calmer and more supported.
Outstanding Team Player – Helen
Helen (yes, a double winner) is someone the team can always rely on. She steps in whenever help is needed and puts the success of the team first, every time.
Harriett's Choice Award – Lynne
Lynne came into care later in life and often says she wishes she had found this role sooner. She is the team's mother hen, always looking out for everyone. Whether she is wearing her Lightning McQueen Crocs or taking a colleague out for a coffee when they need guidance, she brings people together with warmth and understanding.

Why we do this
Every one of these people was nominated by the people they work alongside or care for. These are not management decisions. They come from the team and from our clients.
That is what makes these awards worth something. A colleague noticed. A client remembered. Someone took the time to say “this person made a difference to my day.”
If you want to be part of a team that celebrates its people like this, have a look at what we are about or check our current vacancies.
Thank you to everyone who came, and to every member of the YHC team for another outstanding year. Here is to 2026.
