A day trip to Skegness for our clients
On 6th June we took some of our wonderful clients on a day trip to remember, to Skegness beach. We wanted to see them all enjoying themselves outside of their homes and taking in some much needed sea air.
Our scheduler, Jane, took the lead on the organisation of the trip; she arranged suitable, comfortable and accessible transport from Johnsons Bros Tours. She planned for us to have ice cream on the beach, visit the arcades and have a delicious fish & chip lunch.
The day was perfect and went just as planned!
“I particularly liked how much we saw our clients smile on the day. It was lovely to spend a whole day interacting with them as friends as well as clients, as that’s often how we see them. Overall I’ve got to say, I’m really proud to work for a care company that thinks outside the box to enrich our clients lives.”
We left our office a little after 9am. Aimee had even made everyone a little seaside gift bag, with some pick & mix sweets, a bottle of water and a seaside themed quiz to entertain everyone on the journey there. The bus driver was fabulous and had the 60’s radio channel on for everyone to have a singalong.
“We couldn’t ask for anything better. The company, the carers; everything was perfect. The opportunity to go made it special for us; we haven’t been out since pre-Covid, only to the shop and the hospital. Everyone looked after us all so well. Everyone laughed and talked all day. We laughed so much about the shoes. We are very grateful for everything you’ve done. We’re definitely coming next time; Bermuda is too far though, what about Spain? We would love to come, even with a cost simply because of the way it’s organised. The best thing you’ve ever done.”
We had a visit to the arcades where we enjoyed throwing our 2p’s into the machines. We played a little basketball and Andrea, one of our homecare assistants, showed us her hidden talents. We played some bingo and Paul had a go too… we think he needs more practice!
We stopped for lunch at Hussey’s and all enjoyed a delicious fish & chips. Some of us even enjoyed a swift pint! After lunch we took a stroll down the seafront and got ice cream. We sat on the beach and enjoyed our ice creams. Lots could reminisce and even shared some pictures with us from when they enjoyed Skegness beach as children.
Before we knew it, it was time to take our way home!
The homecare assistants who joined us – Ebony, Elaine, Claire and Leanne – volunteered their day off to assist our clients, to make sure they had a memorable day. Each of them has since said what a lovely day they had themselves and what a pleasure it was to see our clients smiling.
“I’d do it all over again in a heartbeat! Seeing our clients faces so smiley and happy is something I’ll honestly treasure in my heart forever. We all had such a good laugh and a lovely time. We really do give 110% into everything we do to support our clients!”
“We couldn’t have wished for a better day. Not one drop of rain. The meal was lovely. We sat on the sea front. Paul got us ice cream, coffees, anything we wanted. I’m so happy I went. Don’t mention my shoes.”
Apparently there was a mishap with someone’s shoes… but nobody’s mentioned it!
News of the brilliant day has travelled far and wide and we’ve even appeared in the local newspaper: Mansfield Chad
We are so very proud to have such a wonderful team who work together tirelessly – both homecare assistants and office staff – to put smile’s on our clients faces and go above and beyond to really make a difference to their lives. Enriching lives really is at the heart of YourHomeCare.
